Engineering Principles & Working Mechanism

Compressed air inline filters are essential purification devices connected in series along the distribution piping to eliminate solid dust, pipe scale, liquid condensate droplets, and oil aerosols. Achieving desired ISO 8573-1 purity classes requires combining pre-filtration (3 µm), general coalescing (1 µm), ultra-fine coalescing (0.01 µm), and activated carbon adsorption.

As filter media collects contaminants, differential pressure (Delta P) escalates. Every additional 1 bar of restriction forces the compressor to work harder, increasing motor power draw by approximately 7%. Filter elements must be renewed annually or whenever the differential pressure gauge approaches 350–500 mbar.

At HAVKOM Engineering, we supply rugged die-cast aluminum and stainless filter housings, OEM-compatible replacement filter elements for all major brand housings, housing O-ring inspections, and automatic zero-loss drain retrofits.

HAVKOM Independent Engineering Assurance

Experiencing line restriction caused by solid particulates, water, or oil aerosols? Our engineering team audits stage differential pressure (Delta P) to recommend the filter housing and element train that minimizes compressor electrical consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions

How frequently should inline filter elements be replaced?

Filter cartridges should be replaced annually or whenever the differential pressure indicator reaches 350–500 mbar, whichever occurs first, to safeguard energy efficiency.

What is the difference between a particulate and a coalescing filter?

Particulate filters trap solid dust and pipe debris. Coalescing filters merge microscopic sub-micron aerosol oil droplets into larger liquid droplets that drain out automatically.
